ART AT SCHOOL (3 ESO)

Ana Rodríguez from 3 ESO A wrote:

This year, in the subject Arts, we've done a lot of beautiful things. For example, in the first term, we learnt about publicity; in the second, we made drawings, such as star-shaped polygons or modular networks; and in the last term, we used tempera to draw paintings and we made sculptures with clay.
Finally, we've gathered all our work in a little book called "The Artists Book". It has a few sheets which seem like the others we've done in class during this year. Some of them are really beautiful, and they are presented very well. Let's have a look!

Sara Falquina from 3 ESO A wrote:
In Arts we've done diffrent things, for example, prints and other crafts. The types of prints have been technical and artistic drawings. Some prints of techinical drawing are polygons, circumferences, straight lines, a ying yang and a modular network.
On the other hand there are monochomatic compositions, imitation of colours and depth technics.
We have also created a book of the artist with some prints that we have done this year.

We have used a compass, a ruler, some tempera, a brush, some felt-tip pens , set-square and others .
I like this subject because it is very interesting and fun.

Hi Irene,
It's good to hear you're fine. Things are OK in Boadilla too. After school I have to study because I have a lot of final exams and I'm very busy. But in two weeks time I'll finish them and I'll be able to relax.
At school every day it's the same, doing and preparing my exams. It's a bit boring but I mustn't complain.
Your summer plans sound nice! I think I will spend all the summer in Madrid meeting my friends and in my town with my cousins, but maybe I'll visit País Vasco in July.
Write soon,
Estrella

AT school everything is OK, but I have to study a lot. I mustn't complain because my teachers give me a lot of homework ALTHOUGH I don't have time to do everthing!
My summer plans sound nice, I'm going to go to my town and maybe to Marbella, I think that I'll have a good time because I love GOING to my town and to Marbella too, because I really like the beach.
Write soon, love

TRIP TO ARANJUEZ (3 ESO)

Students from 3 ESO C / D went to Aranjuez.
They practiced their English by listening to all the explanations in English.
"A great attraction of the Royal Site includes the Aranjuez Gardens that surround the palace. They were considered the most beautiful of their time. They are divided into four gardens- the Prince Garden, the Parterre Garden, the Island Garden and the Isabella II Garden. They are known for their great variety of vegetables and tree species. Numerous stone- and marble-crowned bridges with classic mythology statues mix with an impressive variety of flowers."

My favourite film genre is comedy. I like action films too. I really like Tim Burton's films. My favourite film is The Corpse Bride.

It's an animation film. It's the story of Victor Van Dort and Victoria Everglot, who are getting prepared for getting married, but mistakenly Victor gets married with Emily, a corpse bride.
Victor is played by Johnny Depp. The film also stars Helena Bonham Carter as Emily and Emily Watson as Victoria.

I like it because the story shows a different point of view about  life. What's more, the film characters are figures and they are very real. The soundtrack is great as well.

If you like Tim Burton's films, you'll enjoy it.

THE BEST FILM... (3 ESO)

Click on the title to write a review talking about the best film you've ever seen....

Elena Izquierdo from 3 ESO wrote,

This film is a musical. It is based on a musical of the same name about two lovers in an American high school in the 1950s.
Danny Zuko (played by John Travolta) meets a girl named Sandy Olsson (played by Olivia Newton-John) and they fall in love. They think that they are not going to see each other again, but when school starts, they meet again.
This film is famous all over the world. What film is it?

Ana Rodríguez from 3 ESO A wrote,
It's a romance film. It's set in Barcelona, near the beach. It was filmed there in 2010 I think. It's about a love history. Hache (played by Mario Casas) meets Babi (played by Maria Valverde) when she was going to school, and they fall in love. I don't know who directed it. Do you know what film I'm talking about?

REGARDS FROM PENNSYLVANIA

Some of you know that Laura Luque decided to spend a year in the United States. She's now a sophomore student in Pennsylvania and wants to share her experience with us...

"Yes!!! Well, im in Pennsylvania, in a small town called Somerset, which is like 2 hours from Pittsburgh.

I love my family so much, they are so nice. They have two children, Lauren, she is one year older than me, and we are like best friends, and then Chase, he's one year younger than me, and we are playing around all the time, so the family is perfect for me.

My school's name is: Somerset Area School District. It's pretty cool. I'm a sophomore here and it's like if i was in a movie, it's extremely big and with all the dances, sports, the newspaper.... Like the movies, and everybody is so nice.

Here, every weekend or after school, most of the peple don't usually hang out, they work, so when I first got here and I didn't have many friends, my weekends were sooo boring, but now that I have more friends we try to plan things together.

Sports in here are so important, they are divided in like seasons, in winter, there are some sports, and then in spring different ones. So I did swimming, and oh my god, it was soooo hard, we had to practice everyday for 2 hours, sometimes I cried and I thought I was gonna die, it was so hard, and the people in my team were so good, so I felt like I was the worst, and I used to hate it. But then it got better and I did well too haha, the swim meets were fun, even though I didn't get any good places but it was alright, and now, swim season is over, and I decided to start track and field, but I had to quit because my knees were hurting and I couldn't do it.

So now, I'm just like after school going home and doing some work outs because I don't wanna get fat after all haha. And well, they sent me my flight days when I'll go back to Spain, I'm flying from Jonhstown to Washington on 12th of June, and then from Washington to Brusels and from there to Madrid, so I will get home the 13th, I'll be soooo tired. And I'm so sad, 'cause I don't wanna go back:(

My advice for the people spending a year in the States  is that they have to do sports because, if you don't get to have a host brother or sister, it's the only way to make friends. They don't have to worry at first, because when I first got here, I didnt understand anything at all, it was horrible haha, but then you get used to it, so it's okay.

Ruth, she is in Canada, in Ottawa, and we usually talk all the time, and she's fine, she is having a lot of fun too, and when one of us feels bad, or sad, we are always available for each other haha, because you know, we are in the same situtation.

I went to New York with my family, and it was awesomeeee. I loved it, it was so neat, we went shopping, we went to the statue of Liberty and all those monuments, so I really enjoyed it. And I haven't traveled much more; this summer I think my host family is going to take me to the beach, and they want to take me to Niagara Falls, in Canada. I hope they'll take me, because I would love to!!!"

Other things I keep from the past are summer bracelets my friends gave me, or pencilcases from when I was in primary.

MY PREDICTIONS (3 ESO)

Click on the title to write your opinion about

SCHOOLS, FREE TIME AND ENTERTAINMENT IN 2050.

Useful expressions: There are good reasons to be optimistic about...
I'm sure that...
... have some serious problems.
... will be far from perfect.

Use
WILL PROBABLY, PROBABLY WON'T, MIGHT

ON THE ONE HAND, ON THE OTHER HAND, HOWEVER, IN CONCLUSION

Paragraph 1. Your general opinion.
Paragraph 2. The positive aspects
Paragraph 3. The negative aspects
Paragraph 4. Your conclusion

Estrella Mesón Grande from 3 ESO C wrote:

Some people think that life in 2050 might be better than now. I think it will have possitive and negative aspects

On the one hand sciencists will probably find the cure for some important diseases and we will probably have important advances in technology.

On the other hand we might have serious problems with the enviroment if we don't do anything right now. We will also depend on mobile phones and computers.

In conclusion, the world might be a better place than now, but we probably won't have social life, or in the worst case, a planet for living.

Pedro Gallego Lurueña from 3 ESO A wrote:

There’re good reasons to be optimistic about the future. However, not all will be good and the world probably won’t be perfect.

On the one hand, I’m sure that school will improve and studying will be fun and amusing. School classes will last less and classrooms will have waiter robots who WILL serve our favourite drinks while learning.

But on the other hand classes will be complex and quicker and there will be other subjects such as Sport’s history or CookING.

I don’t think that free time and entertainment will change VERY much. Cinemas will have 4-D screens and THE Internet might be more important. But teenagers will continue going to the parks with their friends.

To conclude, I think that the world will be far FROM perfect because we will be more dependEnt  on machines and energy, but school, free time and entertainment will improve a lot.

But I have some hates too. I can't stand when somebody repeats the same word all the time. It drives me mad! I also hate when some people try to be different because one person doesn't like their personallity. It's stupid! You have to be yourself, and if someone doesn't like, it doesn't mind! And finally I hate noisy eaters. The noise that they make is disgusting!

Yesterday THERE was A strike so Ann, Julia, Mike and I went to the park. We were playing when one dog came to play with us. It seemed TO BE alone, so we stayed with him.

We were sitting on the grass with the dog when suddenly we saw a man jumping out of a window. At first we thought he could be a boy that had forgotten his house keys, but then we realized that he was carrying a big bag and a black mask. A few minutes later the dog started barking and he BEGAN to follow the man, we quickly ran after the dog. We saw how the small dog bit the man's big bag and the man kicked it. Thanks to the dog the man started to lose things and he made a trail with things that he had stolen. We begun to follow the trail and it took us to a small alley. The trail ended at a bin so, we supposed that the thief was hiding into the bin.

Eventually we called the police, they came and caught the thief and they took him to jail. LATER, we knew that the things stolen belonged to the dog owner.
